RL Glee Club Travels to the West Coast
The Glee Club recently concluded its annual spring break tour, bringing its energy and talent to the West Coast, with a trip to San Francisco.
Each day was full of singing, learning, and sightseeing. Musical highlights included choral exchanges with the students of Convent & Stuart Hall Schools of the Sacred Heart and the men of the Golden Gate Men’s Chorus; two performances at Grace Cathedral and a performance at their Evensong service with the Cathedral School Men & Boys Choir; a masterclass at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Dr. David Conte; and a school assembly performance at the Town School for Boys.
The group made the most of their time on the other side of the country, visiting California landmarks and destinations like Alcatraz, Muir Woods National Monument, Angel Island, Fisherman’s Wharf, The Haight & Golden Gate Park, and Stanford University.
Several Bay Area alumni attended the Glee Club’s concert at Grace Cathedral, and a special alumni connection happened when Chris Zhu ’20 hosted the group at the San Jose headquarters of his AI hardware startup, Etched. Chris held a meaningful Q&A about his journey from RL to Harvard to startup founder, and he showed the group around the facility. The boys enjoyed this rare chance to get an inside look at Silicon Valley and to connect with a former RL student.
