RL Track & Field Goes to Nationals

The Roxbury Latin Varsity Track & Field team capped off another outstanding season with impressive performances at both the league and national levels. The Foxes finished second at the ISL Championships and the New England Championships, with athletes across all events contributing to one of the program’s most successful campaigns in recent memory.

Among the season’s top performers was James Kerr (II), who established himself as one of Massachusetts’ premier distance runners. James claimed ISL championships in both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter races, breaking the school record in the latter event. In recognition of his exceptional achievements, he received the Outstanding Track Performer Award from ISL head coaches and was later named a Boston Globe All-Scholastic athlete, an honor reserved for the state’s best high school competitors as selected by league coaches. James also played a key role in the success of Roxbury Latin’s Varsity Cross Country program this year.

The team celebrated additional individual and relay accomplishments. Fin Reichard (I) captured an ISL title in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet to secure the championship. Another school record was earned in the 4×400-meter relay, as Navid Hodjat, Richie Federico, Drew Anderson all of Class I, and Toby Harrison of Class II combined for a noteworthy performance. Contributions from athletes across the roster—including Class III students Jack Kelly, Kolby Sahin, Nate Kelley, Chase Sullivan, and Omar Baaj; Class II student Flynn Hall; and Class I students Nitin Muniappan, Nick Galdo, Brian Weeks, Liam Walsh, and Colin Bradley—helped propel the team to its impressive finishes.

Even after the official season concluded, several Roxbury Latin athletes continued competing on the national stage. Nate, Andrew Giordano (II), Drew, James, Navid, and Richie qualified for the Nike Outdoor National Championships based on their performances throughout the season. The highlight came in the Sprint Medley Relay, where Nate, Andrew, Drew, and James earned a seventh-place finish and All-American honors. Their success served as a fitting conclusion to a remarkable season defined by talent, dedication, and excellence, led by head coach Mrs. Erin Dromgoole and Assistant Coaches Mr. Heaton, Mr. Sundel, Mrs. M-K, Mr. Bleday, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Kerr, and Mr. Jones.
