We have one purpose in raising money: "it’s about the boys… and the adults who teach, coach, and counsel them. All of us are glad to be associated with something truly excellent, truly noble, and associated in a way that can make a difference. Without your generous support, we could not assemble such a demographically representative student body; nor would we be in a position to compensate our faculty honorably. We would not be the school we are without your benevolence".
The Annual Fund
Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of educating a boy at Roxbury Latin; it never has. In fact, for this 2013-2014 school year, tuition accounts for about 41 percent of the School’s budget, with the remainder provided through income from contributions to the Annual Fund (22 percent) and from the endowment (37 percent). This year, the total budgeted cost per student is $46,004, which is about $20,000 more than RL’s tuition of $26,100; so essentially every boy at RL receives a scholarship. Like all other independent schools, Roxbury Latin relies on the philanthropic support from parents, alumni, and friends to cover this “gap” between tuition and the real cost of educating each boy.
