Homecoming celebrates past and current fall team athletes, new turf fields

A grim forecast did not deter a fabulous turnout of RL alumni, families, and friends for Homecoming & Family Day on Saturday, 22 October. The occasion marked the official opening of the new artificial turf fields, ensuring games would be played, rain or shine! After an initial downpour as the throngs were arriving, the weather held steady for the rest of the day with chilly winds under a gray sky.
Early attendees got a sneak peek inside the new Indoor Athletic Facility (nearly complete), which will open for hockey practices in just two months. Then at 3pm Headmaster Kerry Brennan called current and alumni fall team athletes to gather with coaches for photos on Schoolhouse Field. Roxbury Latin's a cappella group, The Latonics, performed the National Anthem and then the contests began against St. George’s (Varsity football), Nobles (Varsity & JV soccer), and St. Mark’s (Varsity and JV x-c), while Chef Jason and his staff provided barbeque lunch fare along the sidelines throughout the afternoon.
