Technology

Overview

Technology at Roxbury Latin plays an important role in the education of a Roxbury Latin boy. Whether in the Mary Rousmaniere Gordon Library, the Harry Lewis Study Center, classrooms around campus, or even at home, the mission of the Information Services department remains the same: we aim to provide technology resources, training, and support to continually improve teaching and learning at Roxbury Latin. We believe RL programs should effectively use technologies in the advancement of education.
An updated wireless network, additional laptops, and improved Library resources and databases allow students to use various learning technologies across campus and at home.
In classrooms and the Library, our courses and research programs, ranging from our unique Class VI Design course to our AP Computer Science course, prepare students for advanced study in college and beyond.

Computer & Research Facilities

To further our mission, we offer top-of-the-line computer and research facilities throughout campus:

The Department of Information Services

An updated wireless network, additional laptops, and improved Library resources and databases allow students to use various learning technologies across campus and at home. The Department of Information Services also offers the following technology services, among others:
  • Google Apps: Roxbury Latin uses the complete suite of Google Apps to provide students with access to their documents, mail, contacts and calendars from any location.
  • Content Management System: We are currently using Whipple Hill's onCampus to extend classroom walls. Students have access to documents, discussion boards, forums, and other teacher- and student-developed content.
  • High Speed Internet Access: Roxbury Latin maintains redundant high speed connections to the Internet configured to automatically cover for each other. Current access speed is upwards of 100 Mbps, allowing both high bandwidth uploads and downloads and excellent reliability.
