A student-run, student-led organization founded in 2007 to aid the mission of Habitat for Humanity International, the R.L. chapter of Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with Greater Boston Habitat and other local affiliates to fulfill the four functions of a campus chapter: building, fundraising, advocating, and educating. The group has sent many student volunteers to work at local home building sites in Braintree, Newton, Plainville, Stoughton, Dorchester, Roslindale, Needham, Scituate, and Whitman. Beyond our local area students and faculty have participated in Habitat’s Collegiate Challenge by volunteering during spring and summer vacations for a full week in York, Pennsylvania, and on a Global Habitat Build in Botswana. In order to take part in these builds and support local affiliates, the group has raised over $20,000 through bake sales and hosting a three-on-three basketball tournament in the winter.
