RL hosts 2012 Graves-Kelsey Wrestling Tournament

Roxbury Latin hosted the 2012 Graves-Kelsey wrestling tournament on Saturday, February 11. Teams, families, and fans of the thirteen ISL schools made for a non-stop, dawn-till-dark event.

The RL Latonics, whose members include several wrestlers, opened the daylong event with the National Anthem. (See behind-the-scene photos from the day here...)

Says RL coach and tournament director Steve Ward:

For the RL community, this was a fantastic event where students, faculty, staff, maintenance staff, parents, and alumni all pulled together to show off the School at its best. Coach Paul Sugg devoted his entire day along with Chris Hannan ’82 to be superb announcers, Tobey O’Brien (mother of alumni wrestlers J.J. ’01 and Mike ’04) took on the monumental task of running the concessions from dawn to dark, numerous other faculty and boys pitched in in a variety of ways. Special praise goes to the RL jv wrestlers who did an expert job running the scoring tables, to Myles Keating ’12 for being the floor manager of the tables all day, and to J.P. Jacquet ’01, who came in from New York to be my right hand for the entire day.
