Holiday concerts highlight singing groups
Roxbury Latin's four singing groups performed for the School community at the Holiday Concerts just before Winter Break. With two performances on December 21st, the Junior Chorus, Chorus, Glee Club, and Latonics sang a range of songs, from holiday favorites to top-40 hits.
The Junior Chorus made its 2010-2011 debut with the spiritual, “Sing When the Spirit Says Sing,” Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” (solos by Brendan Ng V, Kevin Zhu VI, and Joseph Fleming VI), and the 2010 World Cup anthem “Wavin’ Flag” (solos by Malik Walker VI and Yanson Chang VI).
The Chorus also made its 2010-2011 debut at the Holiday Concert, performing the Hollies' hit “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” the holiday anthem “Glory, Hodie!,” and the energetic finale “The Rhythm of Life.” The Glee Club added the Ukrainian “Carol of the Bells” and the Hebrew song “Bashana Haba ‘ah” (with Nate Downes V on clarinet, Andrew Kim I on violin, Lev Mamuya IV on cello, and Adrian Silver I on piano), while the Latonics performed the holiday favorite “Winter Wonderland” and the Maroon 5 hit “Misery.”
